Wealshire of Bloomington - Opened on 8/15/2011
Our Experience
Thomas A. Wiskow was the founder, President and CEO of a 162 resident Alzheimer’s care facility in Rogers, Minnesota that was built in memory and honor of his father who had died of Alzheimer’s in November of 1996. At his father’s funeral, Mr. Wiskow promised his father that he would do something so others with this devastating and progressive disease could live with pride and dignity, which was not the case for his father.
Mr. Wiskow’s two years of extensive Alzheimer’s care due-diligence convinced him that a new type of resident care facility was needed that would allow Alzheimer’s residents to be housed by their level of the disease, and the “resident to care provider” staffing ratios must be improved significantly. In addition, resident activity programming must be conducted on a daily basis, and the care facility would not discharge residents when the care requirements of this progressive disease became intensive. When Mr. Wiskow’s newly designed Alzheimer’s care facility opened in August of 1999, his mother was their first resident, and she resided in this facility until her death in August of 2001.
The Future
Against the wishes of Mr. Wiskow, the Board of Directors elected to sell this premier Alzheimer’s care facility in February of 2008. Mr. Wiskow’s continued passion and commitment to be of assistance to individuals with Alzheimer’s has resulted in Mr. Wiskow again being the founder, President and CEO of the newly constructed Wealshire of Bloomington, a 2-phase, 130 resident Alzheimer’s specific care campus in Bloomington, Minnesota.
The Wealshire of Bloomington will incorporate, and expand upon, many of the same features and benefits that made his previous Alzheimer’s care facility successful. The Wealshire of Bloomington will provide the best financial value, in addition to providing the highest quality of care, of any Alzheimer’s care facility in the Twin Cities. The “resident to care provider” staffing ratios will again be the best in the industry, and the Wealshire of Bloomington will provide excellent resident care to all four stages of this progressive disease, to include specializing in “behavioral” dementia care and “hospice” type care.
Residents at the Wealshire of Bloomington will live with pride and dignity, and the high quality of care provided will never be compromised. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you a personal tour of this new Alzheimer’s care facility.
